Name:
Kara Snowfeather
"My Name's Kara. You can pronounce it 'KAR-ah' or 'KARE-ah', but I prefer to be called the first."
Gender:
Female ♀
"Erm, I thought it was obvious. Female!"
Species:
"Snowy Owl, mainly"
Bubo scandiacus
Image
Personality:
Kind
Kara is a kind Owl. She loves to help young owlets and other young creatures. She doesn't care about who she helps, as long as she helps somebody. she will even heal somebody who had done something wrong, as long as they wouldn't harm anyone anymore. She wants to help everyone, and cares for them all. She would give up everything just to help people.
Brilliant
Kara is incredibly smart. It was acutally because of a chemical scientists used to color her feathers when she was still an egg, and this side effect went unnoticed for a startling ammount of time. Kara is a genous.
Brave...
When the time comes, Kara can be brave. She stands up for those she cares about and will do whatever it takes to keep young ones safe.
...Yet Fearful
There are a few things Kara is afraid of, though. Cages, Nets, Humans, Being Unable to Fly, and Large Predators to be more specific.

But inside...
Kara is Lonely
Kara knows that some creatures are fearful of the brillant ranbow colors that adorn her feathers. She rarely makes any close, or permanent, friends. She has also given up all hope of ever finding someone to love. She also lets the fact that she is not completely natural knaw away at her inside.

Brief History:
Kara is not completely normal, as you can probably tell. She was stolen as an egg and taken to a labratpry by none other then...
humans.
They expirimented on this little snowy owl egg, injecting it with a strange chemical that changed certain colors on her feathers. But they didn't know the side effects.
What were these side effects, you ask?
Well, they never really descovered these effects until too late. You see, along with strange feather colors the chemical also made Kara smarter. Much smarter. In fact, in only a week from hatching Kara knew how to speak not only English, but Spanish and German as well (Don't ask me how she did that). She never showed this fact to the scientists and this went unnoticed for a very long ammount of time. While the scientists were conducting experiments on her, Kara was studying everything. When the shifts changed. Who worked late and when. Who was alert and who was lazy. And ultimently a way to excape.
Time passed and Kara grew up at an extrordinary rate (another effect of the chemical). And the scientists had just started the suspect the chemical had other side effects. They had only managed to figure out the chemical changed feather color on the primaries to reflect all the colors of the rainbow (with the addition of pink) and that it increased the rate of growth and life span. They predicted that, if all went well, Kara might be able to live to be 70! But they couldn't get much farther then that because, that night, Kara made her excape.
She waited until the late night/early morning shift when the most lazy of the scientists got the shift. She waited until the scientists was at his most bored (and lazy) point in the shift and dropped off for a quick nap. Then Kara sprung into action. She plucked a rainbow-colored feather from her side and looked over at the outside of the cage. The cage door was controlled be a wire that could only be removed when a certain sized rod was stuck in a hole. Kara had calculated her growth and figured out that this exact day would be the day when her feather would fit exactly in the hole. She manuvered carefully after that, being sure not to disterb any of the other wires that tangled arround like a mass of writhing snakes. Then she swiftly slipped the feather into the wire and the wire fell, its tip clattering onto the floor. Then Kara swiftly opened the cage door and flew out of the cage. She looked for some sort of exit, then noticed that the window was ajar. I'm lucky he left the window unlocked again today. Kara thought as she pushed her way through the window and vanished into the cool night air.
